Nigerians ridicule Desmond Elliot for justifying “Godfatherism”

Veteran Nollywood actor and politician, Desmond Elliot, has been an object of ridicule and mockery by Nigerians on social media after his recent comment, justifying “godfatherism“.

The actor in a recent interview was against Governor Obaseki’s motion against “godfatherism.”

The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki who seemed to be fed-up with Adams Oshiomole’s dominance in the his state, started an “Edo no be Lagos” campaign ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

However, this didn’t go down well with Desmond Elliot who countered and berated Obaseki’s for campaigning against “godfatherism” in Edo state.

In the interview, The actor turned politician defended the act of godfatherism, as he spoke about importance of loyalty. He also stated that he was a product of what Obaseki campaigned against.

He also noted that If not for godfatherism Obaseki would not be where he is today.

In defence of the said issue, Desmond said that a godfather looks after the interest of his people.

His remarks at the interview didn’t go down well with Nigerians as many took to twitter to drag the sitting Logo State House of Assembly member to mud and rained curses on him

These comments have not gone down well with Nigerians.
